by Hourglass

If today were the last of all days
Would it change how you feel, who you are?
Would you rise for a moment
Above all your fears
Become one with the moon and the stars?

Would you like what you see looking down
Did you give everything that you could
Have you done everything that you wanted to do
Is there still so much more that you hold

Follow your dream to the end of the rainbow
Way beyond one pot of gold
Open your eyes to the colors around you
And find the true beauty life holds

Would you live for the moment
Like when you were young
If time didn't travel so fast
Be free in the present enjoying the now
Not tied to a future or past

Follow your dream to the end of the rainbow
Way beyond one pot of gold
Open your eyes to the colors around you
And find the true beauty life holds

You probably said all you wanted to say
But doesn't that strike you as strange
That we only begin to start living our lives
If today were the last of all days

If today were the last of all days
Of all days.....

Holy disturbance

There were times that we just can’t figure out why we feel irritable or uneasy in a day. That’s how I was feeling this morning. I told myself that this is just because of the upsurge of hormones caused by my pregnancy. But I was not so convinced. I knew I needed to do something to find peace on my last day of work in 2012.

Just like what my best friend always say (in my mind) "deal this with God'. And so I prayed and searched Him. Though there were no words coming out of me, I felt our connection and suddenly felt peace. Minutes later, I was reminded of a deep desire that I need to fulfill soon. That was the reason behind why I was disturbed. It was a holy disturbance towards true peace that can only be achieved in the presence of God. Hay, this is Christmas. :)

Disturb us, O Lord when we are too well-pleased with ourselves
when our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little, because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, O Lord
when with the abundance of things we possess,
we have lost our thirst for the water of life
when, having fallen in love with time,
we have ceased to dream of eternity
and in our efforts to build a new earth,
we have allowed our vision of Heaven to grow dim.

Stir us, O Lord
to dare more boldly, to venture into wider seas
where storms show Thy mastery,
where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars.

In the name of Him who pushed back the horizons of our hopes
and invited the brave to follow. Amen.

ISAAA Christmas

it's my third Christmas party at ISAAA and i could still say that i'm exactly where God wants me to be. of course i miss teaching, which i did in my previous jobs, but being at ISAAA placed me out of my comfort zone. i've done a lot of things that i thought i won't be able to do. for this year, i've written our first publication for high school students in collab with my big time cartoonist steph bravo. i also presented in an international conference for the second time, add to that the free trip to phuket. i also wrote scripts for videos, articles for our newsletters, and more. to top it all, i got a raise just before our wedding! aside from the accomplishments, my relationships also became deeper. blessing came after blessing.:) i'm grateful to God for bringing me to this place where i found home.

this year, just like the past 2 Christmas parties i attended at ISAAA, i came home with lots of gifts!:) and i know, more will come in 2013!

God the Crafter

I've always dreamed of retiring from work early and  just do DIY crafts at home. Several times in a day, I crave for something colorful to see or something creative to do like doodle on the side of the journal article I'm reading. Well, probably I'm a born crafter. And I thank the Lord for this gift/skill/talent because through this I came to know Him in a different light.

At the middle of the crafternoon that Eyna and I attended, I found God the Crafter. I imagined how God feels whenever he makes a creation. He crafts every person like a masterpiece. Thus, I am His work of art.

And just like a little giddy child, I watch Him craft another life inside me. I can feel and see how joyful He is in adding more cells to my baby, developing each organ, and planting seeds in my baby's heart.

God is so awesome. I'll forever be grateful for this extravagant gift I've got for Christmas.

Year of faith

Truly the Lord has far better plans than what we have. Looking at my advance gratitude list (prayers I thanked God on credit at the start of this year), I could say that He has given me everything I asked for. But God is sooo generous and loving, He treats us like his favorite.

Last Monday, God granted another prayer-to have a baby soon. I can't believe I'm going to be a mommy! My heart leaps for joy and bliss with this great news. The Lord indeed is sooo good.

To add more sugar to the cupcake, I'm expecting a baby together with my best friend Ching and our dear friend Cheek. :)

Side kwento. Before I got engaged, I had a vision that Ching would be pregnant on my wedding day. And it really happened! Then when Totskie and I got engaged, I had a funny dream that I will give birth this month, which is just 2 mos after our wedding. :)

Even before your baby was conceived, he or she was on God’s calendar!

Relationships in one long weekend

Before the loong weekend started, I listed down the things I MUST do. That list include sorting of wedding pictures for Facebook and album printing, writing more blogs, have plenty of sleep, etc. Sad Grateful to say, I did not accomplish those things. Instead, the whole long weekend was spent on spending time with the people I love. :D

Right after work on Oct. 31st, we wore our halloween costumes because we received a threat from our neighbors that they will scare us unless we give them candies. And after the trick or treat, we treated ourselves with full body massage. Sarap!

Early morning of Nov. 1st, I cooked breakfast which we brought to the cemetery. We spent sometime there with our relatives. Then after lunch, Totskie and I headed to Biñan to visit his Lola in the cemetery. The next picture just shows how fun that visit was. Totskie's Titas are very animated in telling stories kaya ang dami kong tawa.

And just like a yearly tradition, we started putting Christmas decors. See my cute assistant?:D

And before the weekend ended, I did this cake together with 70 cupcakes for Baby Yanis' Christening. :)

Then we attended the first birthday party of my childhood friend's daughter, Nyx. I'm so proud of Feifei, she won the stop dance game!:D After the party, our family went to the church for the mass. Perfect way to end the long weekend. ;)

No one who runs to Him loses out

Psalm 34
The Message

I bless God every chance I get;
my lungs expand with his praise.

I live and breathe God;
if things aren’t going well, hear this and be happy:

Join me in spreading the news;
together let’s get the word out.

God met me more than halfway,
he freed me from my anxious fears.

Look at him; give him your warmest smile.
Never hide your feelings from him.

When I was desperate, I called out,
and God got me out of a tight spot.

God’s angel sets up a circle
of protection around us while we pray.

Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—
how good God is.
Blessed are you who run to him.

Worship God if you want the best;
worship opens doors to all his goodness.

Young lions on the prowl get hungry,
but God-seekers are full of God.

Come, children, listen closely;
I’ll give you a lesson in God worship.

Who out there has a lust for life?
Can’t wait each day to come upon beauty?

Guard your tongue from profanity,
and no more lying through your teeth.

Turn your back on sin; do something good.
Embrace peace—don’t let it get away!

God keeps an eye on his friends,
his ears pick up every moan and groan.

God won’t put up with rebels;
he’ll cull them from the pack.

Is anyone crying for help? God is listening,
ready to rescue you.

If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there;
if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.

Disciples so often get into trouble;
still, God is there every time.

He’s your bodyguard, shielding every bone;
not even a finger gets broken.

The wicked commit slow suicide;
they waste their lives hating the good.

God pays for each slave’s freedom;
no one who runs to him loses out.

All praises and glory go to You, my God.

best team

i thank the Lord for giving me the best officemates in the world. because i told them i'll be off from work tomorrow they surprised me by barging in my room singing the happy birthday song.:) simple act but surely unforgettable.

Gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder*

Long weekend meant long list of blessings.:)

Last Saturday, we went to Cavite to accompany my Tito in the turn-over of their house from Will Time Big Time. The event also gave us an opportunity to gather as a family and be thankful. God is sooo good.

Today, I finally went to the parlor to have my hair straightened. I've been planning to do that since after the wedding but it was only today that I gave in with the excuse that it would be a good birthday gift to myself.

I got a surprise blessing today wheb I attended the mass. I saw Laina! We had an instant church date.:) Good thing we arrived a bit early so we had some time to talk be updated about each other. So the whole mass, I was thanking God for that blessing and this opened my heart to more of God's prepared blessings thru the Word of God.

You will see heaven open

So many good news are roaming around me, making me feel giddy to wake up each morning to ask God, "So what's for today?" :)

And today, he started with a promise: “Very truly I tell you, you will see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” (John 1:51)

God just made my day with this rainbow promise. Truly we have so many things to thank for, and look forward to. And so here's my list, mostly are answered

  • My best friend chingching is pregnant!!!:) I'm so excited to see her baby!
  • My friend Melai got the job she's been praying for!
  • My friend is graduating from college!
  • My mom has perfected the cupcake factory yogurt!!!
  • We've got a number of orders this week!
  • I went back to Rural for our exhibit and felt sooo high school!
  • Totskie is not soo busy at work this week (and next week, which is my bday week :D) so we have more time for each other !
  • My friend got a "wait" as answer to her prayer, that's a whole lot better than a NO, isn't it?!
  • New "babies" to work on in the office before the year ends!
  • Alika and Fei are staying with us for the vacation!

Close your eyes and keep on dreaming*

Sometime last year, I added another bullet in my dreams list: to write a storybook for kids. And this week, my boss asked me to write one. :D Sabi nga ni Anne Curtis, "Dreams do come true." :D

Then this afternoon, my friend Melai and I added another one in our list. But since it is not yet in our hands, we will just pray for it and work hard on it in the next days/months/years. This one is quite hard to achieve but we strongly believe that our God makes all things possible. :)

It's just amazing how God plants these dreams in our hearts to motivate us and inspire us everyday. With much dreams in our lists, we have more fuel to push on and fight hard 'till the end of our days. God is sooo good and loving to have created dreams to put rainbow colors in our lives.

Bless our hearts O Lord, that our ultimate dream is to be with You everyday and forever. Amen.

Farewell September, Hellooo Octoberrrr!!!

My final gratitude list for this month:
  • Kuya is with us in one full month. We've been looking forward to Kuya's arrival since he left two years ago. Our weekends with him and his family made us feel like it's already Christmas.
  • Wedding preps. I've been planning about my wedding since time immemorial. I love preparing surprise birthdays for friends, managing events, and doing DIYs. Though the passed months have been busy, I loved every minute of our preps.
  • The Wedding, of course. Hayyyy...:) Gratefulness to the highest level!!! I'm super thankful about everything... the weather, the suppliers, the guests, the super friends, our families and relatives, and of course, I'm so at bliss that Totskie is now my husband.
Foreveryday <3
  • Our honeymoon trip.  Finally, our dream vacation came to reality right after the wedding.
  • Lolo is with God now.  :,)
  • Kuya is on his way back to Riyadh and we'll see him again in 9-10mos. :D
Whew! Thank You so much God!!! October na bukas!!!:D

Papa's last living memory of lolo was last july, when we went home to visit him. Lolo was singing then, though he looked frail and weak already.

My last memory was last December, when lolo jokingly said that when I come back I might have 2 kids already. Because of dementia, he thought that Alika is my daughter.

I never look at the corpses during funerals because I want to remember the dead as how they looked when they were still living. But now, I look at lolo every time and his living memory never fades away.

Thanks for living a full life, Lt. Rizal Natividad.

Hero to the end

Last night, totskie and I prayed together before we slept. We asked God to sustain the joy we have no matter what because our joy is already complete with Him. Then this morning, while on our way to our next destination, I received a message from my mom. My dear lolo passed away. Sadness embraced me in an instant but peace never left my side. I know He's in a better place right now. No more pain, no more sorrow. I'm grateful to him for living 94 years of being a hero not just for our country but also for us his family. I know he waited for my wedding to pass before he left.

I love you lolo. You will always be our hero.

I think I'm thanking God every ten seconds lately but I know that's not yet enough to express how grateful I am. God has been so good and gracious to us for making our dream come true. In every silent minute I remember a person who helped us start our marriage. May the good Lord bless the hearts of those people.

Yes, my wedding was everything sunshine. :D

Love in letters

I know we have a long list of principal sponsors. Some of them have been preset years ago, some were volunteers, and some were volunteered by our parents. :) But I view all of them as blessings, because aside from serving as our witnesses, they will also bless us with love and prayers on our wedding day.

Last Friday was my last day of work before my long vacation for the wedding. Before I left the office, my boss/Ninang-to-be called me to come into her room. She asked me about our preps and gave some inspirational advice on marriage.

Then this morning, I receive a personal message in Facebook from one of our ninangs. And she wrote:
"...Preparing for weddings is an easy task, an exciting one at that. it is the preparation that brings closer relationships, cooperation, and more love... as you journey through your marriage always remember all the preparation you had. remember how fun it was. remember the people who had been with you until that very day you say your "i do's"... they will be there for you and toto no matter what. remember that your partnership had been blessed with prayers by these people. remember this letter and say... "nag effort si ninang para sa kin". and the only reason i want you to remember these is to give you a reason to stick it out with toto no matter what.

always pray for your husband, forgive and get to know him day by day. always look at the things that you can give instead of the things that he has to give. it will make you feel a whole lot better about yourself. i know you already know about these things but sometimes we need a lot of reminding be a partner, a bestfriend, and a mistress (hehe!) rolled into one... but the most important thing is to be reminded of the reason why God had put you together. only both of you would know what task God wants to accomplish through both of you... discover that TOGETHER. no one is better than the other... no one has a higher purpose. no one has "more points" in heaven than the other. and your union will prove that.

isn't marriage great! it is a never ending story... continue to tell your "story" and inspire people around you. and just like any other story, it will have its twists and turns... but more chapters can be written and you never have to close the book. God is the greatest author, allow him to write... never take the pen or twist His hands to let him write your thoughts. i'm so glad to be part of some of those chapters... my name is written on them. so it means you can always look back, search my name, and be reminded of how much you mean to me. "
This is so touching. It feels so assuring that we'll have a guided marriage because we will be backed up by a group of people who believe in marriage and in the One who creates marriages.

We fetched my brother's family from their home to spend another weekend with us. We were surprised because they brought 2 luggage bags to our house. My brother said they're gonna spend the week in our house to help us in our wedding preps. :D

Looooong weekend ahead. Thank you Lord my brother is here. :) And we're complete on my wedding day.

Not my way but Yours

Being an OC bride-to-be, I've been ranting about several things lately about the wedding. That include those people who are "nagtatampo" because they are not invited in our wedding and the renovation being done in the church's entrance so I have to enter the church through the side door. For me, that unexpected happening is something major, but to Totskie, it's just something beyond our control and just have to accept. :)

And yesterday, I read a post from another bride-to-be friend, and I quote:
"I may not enjoy the setbacks while they’re happening, but I trust that when something major happens, it is serving a purpose and that it’s for my highest good."
It reminded me a lot about the wedding and placed me back on the right perspective. Thanks to that friend, and to whoever gave her that realization. :D

So this morning I asked the Lord to help me not turn into a zilla in the coming days, that His will be done and may my heart be open to His plans no matter what.

"Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be done according to your word." Luke 1:38

Thursday, September 6, 2012

At the start of this year, I listed down 10 blessings that I would like to thank God in advance together with my SFC sisses. And yesterday, I met some of them (because they are my coordinating team for the wedding) and knew that a number of the blessings we thanked God on credit have been granted or on the way to being true. We can't help but say "WOW" a couple of times upon knowing that God is really working on our blessings.

Here are just some of those granted prayers/blessings:

  • I is going back to school with scholarship
  • F got the job she was praying for
  • M is now a director in her MLM biz
  • My brother went home after being away for 2 years for work
  • I'm getting married in less than two weeks :D
It's just so great to witness how God blesses the people you have prayed with and prayed for. I also have another prayer which was not yet in the list but have been a constant prayer for eight months. God granted that prayer this week. He's really generous because I only prayed and expected a little but He gave me more than that.

WOW ka God, WOW. <3

Prayers and Mountains

Yesterday was probably one of my last adventures in my single life. I don't know how to put it into words, but I'm just overflowing with gratefulness at this very moment. I've been praying hard lamenting to God about some things for months. And while doing that I got blisters and scratches. Yesterday, I was finally at the summit. There, I met God. He's indeed alive.

My cup overflows

It's been a busy week in the office. This means larger eyebags and less time for wedding preps. Before I went home this evening, I had the biggest smile ever...because I reached my goals. Sent 3 reports and 2 write ups for our upcoming publication. Now I have more time for wedding preps. :)

It feels good also that our family is really complete on weekends. Kuya is home and we could not ask for anything more than his jolly presence.

Thanks so much Lord. You fill me to the brim.

Friday without deadlines

In our office, Friday is the busiest work day because we are sending a newsletter to some 1.3M subscribers. But today, we have no boss no deadlines for articles because we issued a press release which was written by our big boss. Haha. Napapraise God talaga ko when my boss sent me a text message yesterday that I didn't need to write articles. :) This is gooooooooood for me because I'm sick and I have to go to the office because I've been absent for two days this week.

Tomorrow is another great day because my brother is finally arriving from Riyadh. :D Can't wait to see him and witness how Alika would react upon seeing him again after almost two years.

Bundle of joy x 2 years

Alika is now 2 years old. I can't imagine how our lives would have been without her. She filled our hearts with so much joy from the moment she went out of the operating room smilling up to now she has learned the craft of getting everyone's attention by her cuteness.

For me, she's a big bundle of joy, of blessing, and of grace. She indeed lived by her name Alika Carys, which means most beautiful love. Thank You Jesus for this love.

It's a journey

During our canonical interview, the priest asked me why am I getting married. I answered him using the explanation given by our catechist, aba syempre nag-review ako noh. :) I did not give him the reason coming from my heart. If he would ask me again today, I'll ask him to read this blog post.

We have about a month to go before receiving the gift/sacrament of marriage/matrimony and I noticed that each day comes with different surprises and challenges. Sometimes I just want to stop and rewind to the day when my fiance proposed to me and all I could feel was the wind at cloud 9. Yes, I'm still at bliss about the wedding but I can't help but worry about some things.

And this morning, after reflecting about the very bad dream, I had a realization that more than anything, getting married is a spiritual journey. It doesn't matter how pretty I would be (given na yun eh, haha) on THE day or if everything will be organized and I will have the "dream wedding" that I have conceptualized when I was still in high school. What matters most is how God has been involved in our preps, and how we have reacted in the things that God allowed to happen. The wedding preparation is like the first flight going to another destination. And if you won't make it there, you won't make it in the next BIG thing.

I thank the Lord for his guidance and presence in our lives especially these days. If we weren't Christians, we would probably see this wedding as any other occasion or just an interesting chapter in our fairy tale book. May our journey be part of His story.

So dear friends, please be part of our journey by praying with us and our preps. Thank you so much in advance and may the good Lord bless your hearts!

41 days to go

I had the worst nightmare in my entire life. Yes, it was about my wedding. I didn't care in the dream if I looked good or what. My concern The curse was that everything was not in order! It all started when somebody gave me my bouquet and it was a big sinamay rose in color orange! Then when I entered the church, the singer was busy and I had to call her to give her the cue. After the ceremony, I went home to cook rice and bake brownies. Ano ba naman 'yon?!? When I arrived at the reception venue, there were just few guests and I didn't know any of them! And the worst part of it was that I did not see my groom! :(

When I woke up, I shouted "D'yos ko, salamat po panaginip lang pala 'yun!" :)

"You are my source of joy."-God

I will never forget one dream I had when I was still a child. In that dream, I was running carefree in a field while laughing. When I looked at my back, I saw young Jesus laughing with me and running fast to catch me.

May we all be reminded that we are never alone. Jesus is always there to pursue us non-stop. Jesus is always there to laugh with our joys and cry with our sorrows. Jesus is here. May we have our sweetest dreams tonight with Jesus, the Greatest Lover we could ever have.

Simplify to magnify

Half day at work. I went to the office at around 9am to work with the hope that work will be cancelled anytime. So I took the chance to accomplish as many tasks as I can. Sipag mode. :)

Meeting one of my favorite YFC titos. One of the best things about our wedding preps is that having the chance to see old friends during distribution on invites. Since work was cancelled in the afternoon, we headed to San Pablo to visit one of our Ninongs-Tito Bobot. It was a joy to see him again and hear his punchlines. That man really made a mark in my life and I will forever be for him for adding color to my life.

Human Nature trip. We also passed by HN branch to purchase my orders. Grabe ang ganda! Sayang I forgot to take pix but they took a photo of me. Haha. Like my pic on their FB page. :) As soon as I finished dinner, I opened my HN packages to repack them. HN makes me feel giddy to take a bath in the morning and clean up in the eve. Their products are so bangoooo making you feel so fresh, clean, and pretty all the time.

Totskie's suit, check!!! Men are so unbelievable. Totskie thought of passing by SM to check the suits at Onesimus. In less than 15mins in the store, he had already chosen which coat, pants, and tuxedo shirt he would buy. I didn't want to check him while he was fitting the suit but I had no choice. So I just stored his looks in my short term memory so I would still be surprised about how he'll look like on our wedding day.

Devotional reading. It says that we must simply our lives to magnify God. So let's check our old clothes in stock and give them to our needy neighbors affected by this heavy rain.

Words of love are the most powerful

This message just blew me away. Tita Tess is Totskie's aunt and one of our ninangs. <3

Totskie's family loves me. Now I have more loved-ones.  :D Thank you Lord!

Must be SUPER grateful

Yes, there are days when we fail to see how grateful we must be. We choose to see the rain instead of the rainbow and the mist on the flowers and leaves. And such days just passed. So here I am, off my "lazy bed" and down to counting blessings once again. (Thanks to my dear friends who prayed with me and even scheduled dates with me this passed weekend. You know who you are and how much I love ya!)

So let me enumerate the best blessings I got this weekend:

MOM'S COMFORT. My mom is the best comforter next to God. Though there were times when we don't agree with some issues but when we're talking about deep serious heart matters, my mom really knows what's best and how to express her motherlily care to the maximum.

TITA LINDA and Totskie's relatives. We visited Totskie's aunt/our soon-to-be ninang, Tita Linda, last Saturday. She's one of our wedding consultants. We told her about our plans and I was just so amazed about how she can add more colors and glitters to our plans. And while we were in their house, two other Titas were there to share our excitement about the wedding. With special number pa ni Rowill, Totskie's cousin and our Bible bearer. He just won 3rd place in a school declamation contest. Super galing, he must have been the 1st placer!

TITA SYLVIA and JO. We had lunch with Toskie's mom and brother at Chowking, the best fast food in the Philippines. Hehe. Then we went to their house to fix the invitations for their relatives and look for Totskie's (super funny) childhood pics. I won't elaborate on how he looked then, I'll just post the video after the wedding. :D

MY COUSIN, BEVS. She used to stay with us last year from September to December while she was looking for a job. She's like a little sister for me. :) And after her work contract ended last summer, she's now back to LB to look for a job. She had her interview this morning and she'll start training tomorrow. God is gooood!

HUMAN <3 NATURE. Thanks to Eyna, I'm now a dealer! I love their products and I also share their beliefs about our country. :D Gumaganda ka na, nakakatulong ka pa sa Filipino farmers, san ka pa! is good. Even if it's raining. :) Thank You, Jesus.

Sleep in peace

I've been planning to sleep early (11pm is early is our home) starting this week but I've failed for the last 2 days. I'm just so thankful that tonight I could sleep early. I've been on my bed since 10:30 and I just embraced rest. Some things are also not in proper places now but I thank the Lord for the unquestionnable peace that He has given me. Jeremiah 29:11 speaks wonders to my heart once again.

Yes God, I know that You know what You are doing. And I trust you.

It's a Sunny Day

I know it's raining cats and dogs the whole day but I feel like it's a sunny day since Gail posted our pics on Foreveryday's blog. :) So why don't you try and feel the sunshine? View our pics at NOW. :D

P.S. I showed the post to my father who does not understand the concept of engagement pictorial up to now. Sabi n'ya, "Ano 'yan nagbebake?" Sabi ko, "Opo, pero kunyari lang." Then he saw the 3rd pic, "Ano yun may nagbebake bang nagyayakapan???" Hahaha. My KJ gene came from my father. Azar lang.

Fitting, Food Tasting, and Farenting 101

Sorry for the title. I just wanted some alliteration. :) Because this day has been filled with such.

I don't know if fitting is the proper term pero nagpasukat na ko. (Measuring ba?) Haha. I just feel good (di pa great) that I have lost 14lbs since we first visited my couturier in Lumban. And now I have a month to lose weight for the next fitting. Yes, pahirapan sa pag-aadjust ang mananahi. :)

Then we headed to Caliraya Springs for the food tasting. Instant na ang pagkuha ng pics pag pumupunta kami. Yes, bitin pa sa prenup shoot. The place is just lovely. Especially today that we have imagined the details of the reception. By the way, the food is good as well.

And the Farenting practicum. Before we headed to Lumban and Cavinti, we fetched Alika first. So nanay mode and bride-to-be at the same time. :D I just thank God that she slept whenever I told her to and woke up whenever I wanted her to. My niece must be awarded as the "Most Cooperative" kid in this house today. When I was watching a movie (of Sarah and Gerald, yes I'm a fan), she grabbed the laptop from me and kissed Gerald! Another Ashrald in the making. And now she's sleeping soundly while I'm doing some tasks for the wedding. Very good, Alika.

Grateful Saturday everyone!

Photographs and memories

It is such a nostalgic night for me. I'm not in the mood to write (about biotech) so now I'm writing on my blog. Hehe. I scanned through my FB pics to seach for good pics to include in our reception video. Grabe lang ang tawa ko sa mga pics na nakita ko. Ito sample:

This pic was taken ~14 years ago. Ram!!! (Thanks to Krista for the pic)
Sssshhh...Don't tell Totskie about this, baka maging Hulk! :D

And I'll reserve the rest for the video...

Kunin ko na din itong chance para manawagan po sa mga kaibigan namin na may pics/video na kasama kami ni Totskie. Kindly send them to or share it to me thru Dropbox. Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks Ishi, Gail, and Clem!

I'm just so happy how our wedding invitation turned out. I could not find a person to do the design so I did it myself. :) And thank God for leading me to the right URL that gave me the clues. haha. :)

Special thanks to my friends Ishi and Gail who helped me big time to finish the invites. Of course their presence and laughter added color into these invites. Next time ulit ha?!:)

I also thank God for Clem, my office mate and friend, who did the calligraphy for our Save the Date and  invitation envelopes. Super galing n'ya, idol level. :) She's a famous blogger of fountain pens and notebooks. Take a look at her blog here.

Walang stressed na bride-to-be kung maraming ever helpful and loving friendships. ;)

Grateful Weekend

God gave me an opportunity to share the spirit of gratefulness to Exalted SFCs of Los Baños last Friday. It was a rainy night but still 15 pips managed to go and spend time together. After listing down as many blessings they could remember for 1 minute, we divided into groups of 3 and shared about the blessings we thank God in advance for this year. All of us felt the same feeling after activity: that we already have those blessings in our hands. :)

The following day, I also delivered another talk to the leaders of our sector about zeal and single mindedness for God. The topic made me reflect about my devotion to serve the Lord which started when I was really young, attending Sunday school of Bread of Life and Kids for Christ activities. It's really not enough that we're good and striving for our own holiness. All such efforts will be in vain unless we bring souls to Christ. I guess, that would be my last talk in Singles for Christ, but I'm sure that Totskie and I will be serving together in Couples for Christ in the near future. :)

I spent the whole day of Sunday at home, watching X-men marathon in HBO, eating popcorn and avocado, and finishing our DIY invites. Gratefulness consumes me.

Choose today whom you will for me and my family, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

Wedding Gifts of Friendships

I had the busiest weekend of my “engaged”  life. We finally had our Pre-Cana seminar at Pagsanjan Church last Saturday and Sunday. I feel so blessed that we were required to attend such because I felt like we just came from an engagement retreat. I learned so much not just about our faith as Catholics, but also how we should communicate as a couple, how we would handle our finances, how we should deal with our in-laws, how we’ll plan our family, and the list goes on. It’s like I read A Complete Dummies’ Guide on Marriage. The weekend also paved the way for us to appreciate more the beauty of our province. Ang ganda-ganda sa Pagsanjan. Of course we have bias, because we shared a lot of memories together in that place, but aside from that, Pagsanjan is beautiful because it brings us closer to our heritage.

And then yesterday, we had our engagement shoot with GailBitoon of Foreveryday Photography. No other photographer could be better than the husband of my best friend, Ching. Aside from his talents and skills, he also knows us and have supported our relationship since he became Ching’s partner. Super thank God for Gail and Ching. Here are some "unofficial shots" :

Thanks also for Eyna, who used her Girl Scout skills and creative juices to help us achieve the look we want. Mula sa pagzizipper ng gown na ayaw magsara, pagdodonate ng alcohol para magamit ang spraynet, sa pagtitirintas ng hair ko na pang-Pinterest, pagpapapaypay at pagpapatawa.

I also thank God for Melai, who suggested to ask Ela to do my hair and make up. Thank God for blessing Ela with kaartehan and make up kitsssssss.

With these friends supporting us, I feel so grateful to God. Feeling ko these friendships are the most valuable gifts for our wedding, of course for our marriage. Weee. :D

Check check check

According to our wedsite, we've only got 77 days to go before our wedding! This counter makes me cram each time. Last Tuesday, I barely slept because my mind was revolving around the preps. :( But the morning after, I woke up at 5:30 to do the invites. I've asked some friends for instructions on how to achieve my dream wedding invitation but none gave the clear answer. So I asked for the Divine Mercy to equip me as I explore on Google and Photoshop. And after an hour, I knew the exact thing to do! Hahahaha! Thank God for His guidance, and the "holy" pressure of cramming. So last Wednesday night, I finished the design of our wedding invites! Wedding invites, check! Yey!

Last night, Totskie and I headed to the parlor to have our hairs colored. This is in prep for our engagement photoshoot with THE Gail Bitoon of Foreveryday Photography. Prenup preps, check!

After our parlor date, we walked about 15 steps (thanks to the heavy rain) and had dinner with THE Aprille Araguas of Aprille Araguas Designs. Finally, we have a florist! Flowers, check!

I'm just so grateful that I'm blessed with creative friends who are willing to help us and inspire us as well. Thank you po Lord!

I Have Two Nieces

One of my prayers every night is that my nieces would grow up to be God-confident kids. My close friends know that Fei-fei isn’t related to us by blood or genes because she’s not my brother’s biological daughter. However, we love her dearly as our own, just like how we love Alika. I just feel bad whenever people would ask who is my “real” niece, especially when Fei is in front of us. Fei has been showing some signs of insecurity like she wants to have fair skin like us or straight hair like my mom’s. Whenever she sleeps beside me, I pray over her and ask the Lord to take away all those insecurities and make her feel whole in His love and in our family.

I just hope that people would also see Fei as my real niece. Of course, it doesn’t matter what others think but when they say it in front of Fei, it crushes her soul because she is already a 6-year old girl who could understand every single word that she hears.

Above all these issues, I honor God for the heart of my brother. My brother played like a prodigal son in our family for so many years but suddenly changed when Ate Bel, Fei, and Alika became his family. He loves his family dearly and works very hard to provide for them.

This morning I woke up enveloped with gratitude because in less than two months, I’ll be seeing my brother again. I’m sure he’ll be proud to see that Fei has been a good Ate to Alika, without minding who is biologically his and not.

And just like God, He sees all of us as His own, proud and shouting from up there, “Hey, that’s my daughter, Tin!”

Another Gift

Steph is going to make something (for free) for my wedding!:D Yeys!!! Thank You God!!!

Vitamins+minerals=super powers

I've been having busy schedules for the previous weeks. We're already doing some wedding preps, plus my service in SFC, plus work, plus exercise in between. I'm quite surprised because I haven't been sick for the last two months.

During my last visit to the doctor, I asked him to give me a prescription for vitamins. Probably he forgot because I did not find any vitamins in the medicines I bought after consultation. But thank God for my friend, Mahar, who told me about a brand of supplements that I could take. After more than a month of taking those supplements, I feel like I have super powers because I've never been sick. I never experienced having hyperacidity in my stomach, my monthly period is normal, and the list goes on.

Hay, thank God for He breathed on my supplements so I could be a super woman these days.

Thank God for Lola Yed

Lola Yed already said goodbye today.

We will miss you Lola. Thanks for building a God-fearing clan. You will be missed, especially on our day. Surely you'll have the best view of our wedding from up there. Thanks for believing in us. Thanks for all the love.

Please pray for Lola Yed

One of my fears is that Lolo, my only grandparent left, would pass away before our wedding. Though he  would not be able to come 'coz he can't travel anymore and he thinks that I'm already married and Alika is my daughter, I still want to show him our wedding pics when we visit him in December. So I always pray that God would give him the strength and the joy to continue living.

Then yesterday morning, Totskie's mom called to tell us that his Lola is in critical condition. Just like me, Totskie has only one grandparent left. Just days ago, we decided that we would add her to our wedding entourage as an honor to her. She has always been supportive of us, giving advice each time we visit her.

Hay Lola Yed, please wake up today. But if you're too tired already, we'll understand. May God embrace you with His love always. We are praying for you.

Reminder to self: you're just an instrument

I had a date with my GK kumares today. I usually treat them in our house but I changed the plan today because I could not prepare food for them. So I told them that we meet in a cheap restaurant here in LB. Two hours before our date, one of them sent me a text message: Pede ba isama yung mga bata? And because I also miss being with their kids, who were my former students, I said yes. I opened my wallet to check how much I had left on my wallet. I was quite worried because this spending is out of my budget. Bahala na si Lord.

And so we met at KFC. The kids were jumping for joy when they entered the door. Before we ate, I asked the oldest kiddo to lead us in prayer. Yumi said: Lord, thank You po kasi ginamit po Ninyo si Teacher Tin na maging instrument para makakain po kami sa KFC...

I felt guilty that I felt burdened about  my treat for the kids. Yumi is right, I am just God's instrument and so God will always provide. God will always equip us so we are never empty handed in blessing others.
